- 125 ft Tubing included
Pros
- B-hyve smart hose faucet timer with Wi-Fi hub in the box, run from the free app

- 125 ft of push-on Blu-Lock pipe, auto-drain valves, cutter and gauge in the box
Cons
- Needs the Wi-Fi hub and the B-hyve app for smart control
- Orbit lists 2 years on B-hyve devices, against 6 on its plain hose timers
- One zone of six sprinklers only
- No pressure or flow figure from Orbit, and its coverage claim is unclear

Our verdict
The 50024 is Orbit’s one-zone in-ground kit with the plain timer swapped for a B-hyve smart hose faucet timer and its Wi-Fi hub. You schedule and start watering from the free B-hyve app on Android or iOS, and the timer takes weather updates over Wi-Fi so it can skip watering in rain or high wind. The rest matches Orbit’s in-ground family: six gear-drive pop-up sprinklers that adjust from 15 to 25 ft and from 40 to 360 degrees, 125 ft of push-on Blu-Lock pipe, auto-drain valves, a tubing cutter and a pressure gauge.
It is the only boxed lawn kit we found with app control, which makes it our smart pick in the best DIY sprinkler kits. The costs: a hub on your home Wi-Fi, a 2-year warranty on the B-hyve parts where Orbit’s plain hose timers get 6, and fewer published numbers than any other kit in our sprinkler system kit comparison, with no pressure or flow figure and a coverage claim that doesn’t square with its sister kit.
Coverage, pressure and flow
Orbit’s 50024 page says the six sprinklers cover 2,352 to 6,912 sq ft. Its page for the Orbit 50020, which also has six high-efficiency sprinklers with a 15 to 25 ft range, says up to about 1,250 sq ft. Orbit doesn’t explain the difference, so we list no coverage figure for this kit; plan around the smaller one and space heads so each throws to the next. Orbit gives no pressure or flow requirement for the 50024 either. The 50020 asks for at least 50 psi and 5 gpm, a sensible bar to test against with the gauge in the box; our guide to measuring water pressure and flow shows how.
Some retailer listings show a B-hyve in-ground kit as model 50022. Orbit’s own store sells the 50024 and doesn’t say whether they are the same kit, so check the model number before you buy.

The B-hyve timer and winter
The timer runs on batteries and needs its hub and the B-hyve app for smart scheduling; Orbit’s page also lists Alexa voice control, which needs Wi-Fi too. Over winter, set the timer’s run mode to Off in the app: it keeps its programs and waters nothing until you set it back to Auto. In freezing areas, take the timer off the faucet, shake out the water, remove the batteries and store it indoors. Orbit says the auto-drain valves empty the pipe when the water shuts off, and it still recommends a professional blowout for buried lines; see our winterizing guide. If you want the app but not the in-ground kit, our hose timer picks include B-hyve models.
We found no owner reviews of this kit we could read: Orbit’s page showed none, and B-hyve timer threads aren’t about this kit.

Orbit 50024 questions
What warranty does the Orbit 50024 have?
It depends on the part, because Orbit’s warranty table does not list kits. All B-hyve products, which include the smart timer and hub, get 2 years; underground pop-up and gear-drive sprinklers get 5; underground accessories and connections get none. Orbit’s plain hose-end timers get 6 years, one reason to consider the 50020 if you don’t need the app.
Is the Orbit 50024 the same kit as the 50022?
We can’t confirm it. Some retailer listings show a B-hyve in-ground kit as model 50022, while Orbit’s own store sells this kit as the 50024 (UPC 046878500242). Orbit doesn’t say whether 50022 is an earlier number for the same kit, so check the model, the timer and the hub named in any listing before you buy.
How do I put the 50024 away for winter?
Set the B-hyve timer’s run mode to Off in the app, which keeps its programs but stops all watering. Where it freezes, take the timer off the faucet, shake out the water, remove the batteries and store it somewhere dry and heated. Let the auto-drain valves empty the buried pipe, and consider the professional blowout Orbit recommends for buried lines.
