Our verdict

The GE200 carries the most tubing of the faucet drip kits we compared: 200 ft of 1/2 in poly and 50 ft of 1/4 in micro tubing. On that you place twenty 1 gph pressure-compensating drippers and eleven micro-sprayers (three full circle, four half and four quarter), each sprayer rated at 14 gph. DIG rates it for up to 700 sq ft and says extra tubing, sprayers and drippers can take it past 1,000 sq ft.

The faucet end has a backflow preventer and a regulator preset to 25 psi, and DIG backs the kit with a three-year limited warranty, matched among our drip picks only by its smaller sibling, the DIG ML50. What it lacks is a timer, a fine filter and a Canadian seller we could find. It is our large-yard pick in the best drip irrigation kits, and every kit is in the drip kit comparison.

Water supply and flow

DIG allows up to 100 psi coming in; the regulator brings it down to the kit’s working range of 25 to 30 psi. DIG gives no minimum. With every device in the box running, the kit uses about 174 gph (2.9 gpm), and DIG’s ceiling for the kit is 220 gph. That leaves about 46 gph of headroom: roughly three more sprayers, or a few dozen more drippers. Keep the regulator fitted, because the warranty doesn’t cover damage from line pressure above 50 psi. The swivel adapter has only a screen; where water quality is poor, DIG suggests adding its 155-mesh filter (D57A).

Installing it

Fit the backflow preventer to the faucet first, then the regulator, then the hose adapter on the poly tubing. Leave the 1/2 in tubing in the sun before laying it so it is more flexible, and warm the ends of the 1/4 in tubing in hot tap water for about 20 seconds so the barbs push in. Set sprayers at least 6 in above the ground. If you bury the 1/2 in line, keep the drippers above ground on 1/4 in tubing, and request a utility locate first (811 in the US, Click Before You Dig in Canada). Flush the line with the ends open before closing them.

DIG’s starting schedule is 45 minutes to an hour every two to three days, more often on sandy soil and less on clay. DIG notes that drip may be exempt from some watering restrictions but tells buyers to check with their water provider, and backflow rules for irrigation vary by town too (see our backflow preventer guide). The documents say nothing about winter; our winterizing guide covers drip kits. We found no owner reviews of the GE200 we could read.

DIG GE200 questions

How much area does the DIG GE200 cover?

Up to 700 sq ft as it comes, by DIG’s rating, and past 1,000 sq ft with extra poly tubing, sprayers and drippers. The real figure depends on the mix: each micro-sprayer wets a circle and uses 14 gph, while a dripper waters one plant at 1 gph. Stay under DIG’s 220 gph limit for the kit when you add devices.

What water pressure does the GE200 need?

DIG lists 100 psi as the most the kit can take at the faucet; the included regulator, preset to 25 psi, brings that down to a working range of 25 to 30 psi. DIG doesn’t publish a minimum. Leave the regulator in place, because the three-year warranty excludes damage from line pressure above 50 psi.

Which timer works with the GE200?

DIG names its own, all sold separately: the B09D and B092A battery hose-end timers and the BOHE-BT Bluetooth timer. Start with DIG’s suggested 45 minutes to an hour every two to three days, then adjust for your soil and plants: sandy soil needs water more often, heavy clay less. DIG also says long unattended use, without checking the system works, is beyond what the kit is meant for.
